about

Lingua Lustra delves into an angelic futurism with the mystical tones of “Moon”. With wordless choirs soaring up into the infinite everything has a graciousness to it: from the swirling ambience to the lower register drones. Unlike previous works Lingua Lustra introduces elements of unease into the equation. Small yet significant churns and other nods to unease permeate the album giving it a more fully realized narrative quality to it. Elements imbedded deep within these shimmering textures reveal a darker underbelly beneath the surface, giving the songs an almost mirror image of themselves residing just below the surface. “Moonbeam” introduces the album starting out first as a perfectly formed whole. Gradually Lingua Lustra incorporates mild glitch effects into the proceedings making the entire journey somewhat disorienting. The woozy “Nocturnal” appears to come in and out of focus, nearly drunk at times with how it tries to retain its balance. Various environmental effects come into the mix with “The Last Star” which at times recalls Stilluppsteypa’s equally strange output. Much deeper bass frequencies reside within the soothing realm of “Daybreak” by far the highlight of the entire album as it blends ambience and shoegaze together. Further embracing the light, the gentle “Canvas” possesses airy drones that waft away leisurely. Things come to a colossal close on the stately grandeur of the finale “White Light”. On “Moon” Lingua Lustra chooses a glowing form of ambience, and chooses to zoom into to revel in the imperfections. Beach Sloth
