about

"A collection of ambient and drones taken from my personal Bandcamp. Music to experience rather than to listen to, though listening is also possible. Outside the framework of space and time here are 10 tracks, 10 vehicles to transport and harmonise the listener and bring a meditative state. Clear or clouded, liquid or solid, let yourself go through different states of being, connecting earth, spirit, mind and emotion."

Full of light and optimism, Lingua Lustra’s “Self Released Works” are a fully engrossing joy. By opting for the most gentle of drones Lingua Lustra taps into similar classical terrain that informs Stars of the Lid’s work. Throughout it all the pieces flow into each other making it less an album and more of an all-encompassing aural experience. Over the course of the album Lingua Lustra uses a relatively large palette of sounds and textures to deliver transmissions from yet to be explored universes. “Heal” sets the tone for the album with a gracious extended drone. From there the multiple layers feel akin to the sun’s rays shimmering on almost still water. The usage of metallic textures works wonders on the gigantic scope of “Opal Sky”. Easily the highlight of the album is the soothing deeply affecting work of “A Drop (In The Pool Of Eternity)”. Throughout this track Lingua Lustra remains true to their calling letting the song explore vast spaces. Much more nebulous is the field recording inflected work of “The Cosmos Loves You” whose bird chips add to the overall tenor of the track. Muffled blurs come from the impossible to pin down nature of “Dimma”. Almost possessing a rhythm of sorts is the otherworldly swirl of “Spherescape”. Jubilant, even triumphant, is the album closer the energetic rush of “Your Face”. Downright luxurious in scope, Lingua Lustra creates an entirely new world on the exploratory “Self Released Works”.
